XPREZO UNVEILS A NEW RIDE
Bromont, QC – Cycles XPREZO, a Canadian company renowned for engineering and manufacturing high performance mountain, road, cyclo-cross, and BMX bicycles, is pleased to announce its 12th model in time for the 2012 season: the W-29.
W-29 made its debut in October at the Roc d’Azur trade show in Frejus, France.
The W-29 is the company’s first full-suspension 29er mountain bike. After months of research and development, the new model meets XPREZO’s exacting performance standards. It will be available to consumers in a very limited run beginning in the spring of 2012.
The frame design boasts 90mm of rear suspension travel, complemented by a 100mm travel fork. It will be available with a Fox RP-23 Kashima shock and in three frame sizes: small, medium, and large.
This big-wheel model suits the rider seeking a high-performance cross-country / trail bike. The W-29 feels great on the trails due to its XGeo geometry, which features a steep seat angle to keep the rider’s body mass centered for maximum performance. Its efficient pedaling design combined with the increased traction of a 29er, results in a bike that rolls easily over obstacles.
The trademark XMC (XPREZO material combination), gives the W-29 frame increased rigidity, while maintaining a forgiving feel due to its unique combination of materials. The rear triangle’s Columbus Zona tubes feature stiffness, strength, and incredible fatigue resistance. In addition, the slender profile of the tubing allows for maximum mud clearance for performance in the worst conditions.
The W-29 is designed, engineered, welded, painted and assembled from A to Z in XPREZO’s Bromont, QC factory. The newest bike in the company’s line-up lives up to XPREZO’s incredibly high standards of performance, lightweight, and durability. As with all of XPREZO’s products, the W-29 has a smaller carbon footprint than that of big-brand bikes.
Prices and additional info will be available soon through our dealer network and international distributors.

HELLO CYCLOCROSS SEASON !
On Sunday Mike and I raced our first cyclocross event of the year at the BC Cup #2 in Vanier Park Vancouver. This is a classic twisty and grassy course, and we were lucky to have beautiful fall weather and dry conditions. It is a really gorgeous location, along the water by the Burrard St Bridge.
This year there are way more women racing CX, which is super cool. A bunch of the girls who race road in the summer have been coming out to the races, as well as a mix of the usual crossers and mountain bikers, plus some of the ladies from the island. It is so cool to have a field size that is comparable to the guys. Finally!
Mike and I did a couple of warm up laps together, and then I lined up for my race at 12 noon. Sometimes I feel like warm up laps with Mike are like my normal race laps, but at least I get a good feel for the course. I was a little unsure of my form, and the level of the competition, since there were so many new people out. I was able to get to the first running section at the stairs first, but with a big train on my wheel. My Xprezo MTB teammate Sandra, who is racing for Local Ride Racing in cyclocross, was right on my wheel. She was right there for the first lap, and riding really well. I would gap her on the barriers a bit, but she would be right back, after the twisty grass switchbacks. Leah Guloien (who was racing her first CX race since quite a few years away from it), was right in the mix too, as well as Kelly Jones. After a couple of laps I gained a gap on Sandra, and was able to settle into a more steady pace. Once I crashed on the grassy switchbacks, and I knew she'd be close behind if I wasn't careful. It was great to have a good battle with Sandra, and see some new faces out at the race.
Podium photo courtesy of Steve Devantier: (from left to right) 5th Jenny Lehman (Local Ride/Dr Vie), 3rd Kelly Jones, 1st Jean Ann, 2nd Sandra, 4th Leah Guloien.
The race organiser Sven Strum, got all crafty and made a awesome 1st place "medal": "'V' is for Victory. 'V' is for Vanier Park".
Mike had a good race too, at 1:00pm with the elite guys. We are not exactly sure of results yet, but he finished in 8th or so, and on the same lap as the leaders, and rode well and had fun! And really - cross is all about fun!

MATT HADLEY - 2011 CANADA CUP XC ELITE CHAMP
We would like to congratulate our XC Elite rider Matt Hadley for his great accomplishment of winning the XC Elite 2011 Canada Cup with the Xprezo-Borsao team. He has been riding perfect all season long and now it is time for reward!!!
Matt took the lead right after the first race by winning the Mont-Tremlant race. He then increases the lead at the second race where he climbed on the highest step on the podium for the second time in the row. Since then he never lost his red shirt which he could proudly wear for the entire season. But it’s in Edmonton, AB after 3 months or intense effort that Matt conquered his championship victory. That makes him that fastest and most constant XC rider in Canada for the year 2011.
More info on raking
We sure do not want to forget our 2 women riders for the women XC Elite Canada Cup. Jean Ann Berkenpas and Sandra Walter have been astonishing since they finished 2nd and 3rd overall respectively. Catherine Vipond, Matt’s wife won the great Canada Cup for the women Elite discipline.
A special thanks to all our Xprezo-Borsao riders who allow us to get a national visibility and also make better products years after years.
We also would like to thank them for their trust in our products and lots of memorable moments throughout the season.
Xprez-Borsao Team thanks their sponsors for their support for the 2011 season :

CANMORE CANADA CUP XC RACE REPORT
Last week-end was the Canmore XC Canada Cup in Alberta. The Xprezo’s riders (Jean Ann Berkenpas, Sandra Walter and Matt Hadley) were back on track after the two exhausting week-ends in the Eastern Canada and U.S.A. for the World Cups.
The race was held on high technical level track. In the beginning of the race Jean Ann had an issue with the front brake hose that were hanging so she had to stop to fix it temporarily to finish the race. Nevertheless she has been able to catch up and finishes 9th overall. On her side, Sandra Walter stayed with the leaders the whole race but has not been able to steal the 3rd so she finishes few seconds behind to be ranked 4th.
On the man race, it was an important adrenaline rush. For the first time in 7 years Goeff Kabush did not win the Canmore Canada Cup. He has been defeaded by Max Plaxton who has been faster this year. For the Xprezo rider Matt Hadley he finishes 6th overall which is an awesome rank considering the difficulty level of the event.
If you want to read more about the week-end, please visit JeanAnn's blog or Matt's blog

WINDHAM RACE REPORT
Last week-end was the second round of the world cup in the North America’s soil. It is in Windham NY that you could meet the faster riders on earth and see them fighting for the pole position.
All our factory athletes were there to dispute the U.S.A. World Cup. After being socked in MSA it was in the dry dust that the Windham event has been held, a temperature to make every racer happy.
The XC race took place on Saturday under a 30 C bright sunshine. What was particularly hard about the course is that most climbs were exposed to this sun heat which makes the competition harder for all athletes.
For the women XC race after a long 2 hours plus effort, Jean Ann and Sandra have finished 37th and 39th. We can see how consistent those two woman are when its time to race. Visit JeanAnn's blog to know details of the week-end.
Matthew Hadley on his side crossed the finish line 48th after riding on a great pace the entire race long in a more then 80 racers race. “I am proud of my rank. It gives me confidence to for the Canadian Championship next week-end” Hadlay says.
From the top of the mountain, the Down Hill qualification round took place and would determine the 20 fastest riders. After giving everything she could on her DH Xprezo Furax, Anne Laplante finishes 21st. How can you get closer to your goal then that?
She is now focusing on the Panorama Canadian Championship that will be presented in Panorama Mountain in British Colombia next week-end.

MTB RAID ULTIMATE XC 2011 : AROUSSEN LAFLAMME OWNS THE COURSE
It is within 6 hours and 18 minutes that Aroussen Laflamme (Xprezo Cycles – Borsao), from St-Augustin, Qc, crossed the finish line after 100 km of one of the toughest mountain bike Raid. That means an hour and seconds faster than the last year winner. The winner of the race took his lead in the first climb of the Mont Tremblant race at km 66. He then increased the lead in the second climb to race alone for the rest of the race. The podium has been completed with Simon Happy (RST – Velo Sport) and François-Charles Dumas (Nativo).
The Ultimate Xc was created by Dan Desrosiers who decided last year that the province of Quebec was ready to welcome some extreme challenge for high endurence people. It’s in the beautiful Tremblant site that he found the perfect spot to launch the new event. The course has more than 10 000 feet of elevation to make sure that even the best will have some hard time. Moreover, over 80% of the course is singletrack and you have to get invited to the event to participate. You got to make sure that you have been racing for a while and got some extra skills to be up for the challenge.
Just to give you an idea of how difficult the challenge is, once you have climbed the mountain, a trail of 80 km, racers are getting into the Sasquatch, the most technical descent trail in the area and then to climb up again to mid-mountain.
Aroussen was really proud of his achievement and was impressed of the performance he delivered. The course was really challenging and we hope that the event will be held next year.

ALL THE BEST FOR THIS NEW YEAR !
The XPREZO Team would like to start by wishing you all the best for 2011. May health and happiness be with you, and may you reach your goals !
Over here, things have been pretty busy. The 2011 production is under way and it's looking pretty exciting… Lots of new stuff coming up !
The new born model of the XPREZO family is called the T29, which actually is a 29er version of our popular T-4 XC racing hardtail frame. Fast, easy to drive, durable and super comfortable, this new frame is really promising. 29" wheels really are a world of differences, and they will allow you to rediscover your local trails from a totally new perspective….
The 2011 Wuuu also gets a few tweaks. The very first born of the XPREZO range has always been evolving since 2004, and this year's Wuuu geometry has been reworked around a 120mm front suspension fork, making the frame more of a XC Marathon model. The bike is more versatile in all conditions and different terrains. The new integrated head tube completes the upgrades, ensuring a low front end, quick response and a finer look.
The 2011 Super D benefits of a few additions as well, as it now features an ISCG 05 tab and an integrated head tube. We also made the head angle 1 degree slacker to ensure maximum pleasure over a wider range of different trails.
We hope to see you out on the trails soon !

BEN RIOUX WINS IN BROMONT
Xprezo Borsao Ben Rioux wins the last canada cup DH race in his Bromont’s backyard, last Sunday during the last round of the Canada cup in Bromont Quebec. He also took the leader jersey of the series, his first in career.
“I’m pretty stoked to take my first Canada cup win here in front of my local crowd and my family. I've been pretty consistent this season but I wanted a first place... I am living the dream right now !
Rioux also made an amazing performance the night before, winning the Canadian 4X national championship.
On the ladies side, Anne Laplante (Xprezo Borsao) took the second place in the DH race. She's also been able to put her hands on the Canada Cup overall winner jersey for a second year in a row.
She also raced the 4X the night before, finishing second, beind a Aussie girl, but still took the national title of 4X again for a second year...

TEAM XPREZO BACK FROM THE WHISTLER CRANKWORX
The entire XPREZO team is just coming back from a big trip out west in beautiful Whistler, BC, where they've spent the past 10 days at the Whistler CRANKWORX, the biggest bike festival in the world.
Antoine Larose, Jonathan Allard, David Dionne, Mark Wood, Philippe Benoit and Hugo Bardou were all there together to present and offer a test ride of our Canadian hand made bikes to anyone interested… The feed back was more than positive, for the second year in a row. We had the chance to meet up with many locals who are really implicated and dedicated to the development of the sport in that part of the country. It was a great opportunity to exchange about the sport and create new relationships with passionate riders…
XPREZO BC athletes Chad Hendren and James McSkimming were also shredding the mountain participating in a few events… James came out with a sick performance in the Garbonzo DH race paling 24 in the Elite category with a time of 14'24"... It was it's 4th time on his bike this season, after recovering from a major big toe surgery he undergone a few months ago... Master Chad Hendren placed 6th with a time of 15'34" after crashing on wet wood bridges… He was pretty bummed… Phil Benoit, XPREZO production manager, placed 13th with a time of 16minutes flat. He was happy with his run…
The next gravity event at our schedule is the Bromont Canada Cup, hosted at our home resort, this week-end, August 20th to 22nd… The XPREZO-Borsao DH crew will be racing hard !
So see you out there!

XPREZO ON THE ROAD RACING CIRCUIT
After getting great exposure on the XC and DH canadian scenes, XPREZO-BORSAO team athletes are now hitting the road racing circuit. In June, sprinter Aroussen Laflamme completed the Tour de Beauce wearing Team Spirit's colors.
In July, Éric Alain and David Dionne both worked together at the Coupe des Ameriques to help the leader, Thierry Laliberté, who won one stage on top of finishing third at the last stage and 4th overall.
On July 6, Laliberé placed 3rd at the popular and prestigious "Criterium des Mardis de Lachine". We're happy to pass the invitation for August 3rd and 17th stages of "Les Mardis de Lachine", as Xprezo-Borsao team riders will do their best to help Laliberté secure a great overall ranking. Aroussen's help will also be greatly appreciated, as he's reknown for being particularly good during criterium type races.

MATT HADLEY TAKES 4th PLACE AT THE CANADIAN CHAMPS
The Canmore Nordic Ski and Mountain Bike Center was host of the Canadian XC Championships, a very important race for Matt Hadley's (Xprezo-Borsao) selection for the World Championships which will be held at Mt-Ste-Anne this year.
A top 5 position was important. While Geoff Kabush (Maxxis-Rocky Mountain), Max Plaxton (Team Sho-Air/Specialized) and Derek Zandstra (3 Rox Racing) are leading the series and all three were fighting for a first place finish, it was no surprise to see them leave the pack behind right into the first lap, and secure each of the first 3 steps of the podium.
A small pack of 4 riders lead by Raphaël Gagné and Kris Sneddon, was chasing right behind, aiming for the 4th and 5th places and Hadley was catching up on that pack, in 8th place. With 4 laps to go, he managed to pass those 4 guys, one by one, and finished sprinting his way to the 4 place against Kris Sneddon (KONA), beating him by 3 seconds !
A very exciting race, with live coverage on the web, for Xprezo-Borsao and Matt Hadley's fans.
Hoping to see you guys at MSA !

XPREZO-BORSAO ATHLETES GET GOOD RESULTS AT PANORAMA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS.
Last week-end was the Canadian National Championship in Panorama, British Colombia. XPREZO rider Anne Laplante finished in sixth position, best Quebec rider, disappointed with her result knowing she could have done better in some parts of the course. She learned a lot and will be angrier for next week-end's Canada Cup still in Panorama, BC. For this event our athletes have been supported by the Quebec MTB team.
In the men, XPREZO rider Benoit Rioux put a good run together ending up in 8th place. He was also the best rider form the Quebec province. He was pretty happy of his performance and he's getting great confidence for the upcoming week-end's race.
The Quebec team now heading up to Golden, BC, for a few days of riding and training at Kicking Horse Resort. Then back in Panorama by the end of the week for the second race of the project. Antoine Larose is coaching the team while Maxime Gabriel is making sure everybody's bike is in perfect condition. We will give you an update shortly with a few pictures from the beautiful rocky mountains of BC…
Cheers form the Quebec and XPREZO-BORSAO Teams.

XPREZO'S B.C. RIDERS READY TO RACE !
Cycles Xprezo’s western Canadian mountain bike racers are set to start their season this month in a big way, with Xprezo Factory superstar Matt Hadley of Kamloops heading to Europe for the first two UCI MTB World Cups, along with Sandra Walter of the Xprezo-sponsored Local Ride Women’s MTB Team. The two will contest World Cup #1 in Dalby Forest, England on April 25 and World Cup #2 in Houffalize, Belgium on May 2 before heading back to Canada for the first three Canada Cups in Quebec and Ontario.
«I am very excited to be heading to Europe to race,» said Hadley, who will be testing his legs at an England Cup event on April 18, before facing the world’s best on the London 2012 Olympic course in Dalby Forest the following weekend. «I am looking forward to ripping it up on my new Xprezo!»
Walter was selected to represent Canada with the Canadian National Team for the two first World Cups. «I was ecstatic when I got the call that I was invited to race with the National Team,» said Walter. «It’s always such an honour to wear the Canadian jersey, especially when I’m racing overseas.»
The 30-year-old Coquitlam, BC native has already seen success on the race course this season, winning the Island Cup #2 MTB race in Port Alberni, BC on March 21, and riding in support of her Local Ride Racing road team mates in two dEVo Spring Series road races in Langley, BC, alongside fellow Local Ride Women’s MTB team mate Jean Ann McKirdy of Maple Ridge.
«I’ve been having fun racing road with the team this spring,» said McKirdy, «but I’m really looking forward to my first mountain bike races on my new pink Xprezo T-4!» McKirdy’s first off-road races will be an Island Cup on April 25 in Parksville, and BC Cup #1 May 8. McKirdy will join Walter in Eastern Canada for Canada Cup #1 in Baie-St-Paul, QC on May 16, Canada Cup #2 in Mont Tremblant, QC on May 22, and Canada Cup #3 at Hardwood Ski and Bike on May 30.
The Local Ride Women’s MTB Team recently received their flashy pink Xprezo T-4 hardtail frames, which are new to the Xprezo line for 2010. McKirdy and Walter were integral in the R&D of the handmade frames last year. The frames are built in Bromont, QC with Columbus Zona tubesets. “They’re beautiful bikes,” said Walter. “They really stand out and I’m super excited to race mine this season.”

TRAINING CAMP IN VEGAS
The XPREZO DH team is just coming back from a special training camp in Las Vegas, with Goeff Pendrel, coach of the Canadian national DH team. The goal of this intensive training session was to prepare our riders for the very important 2010 season, which includes the World Campionships on Canadian ground. Needless to say our athletes hope they can do good at home...
Anne Laplante, Benoit Rioux and Antoine Larose took this opportunity to fine tune their new XPREZO Furax bikes and get in touch with the National Team members.
The Boothleg Canion training camp, in Boulder City, is roughly 40 minutes drive from Las Vegas, and offers different types of trails. The race course, which is roughly 3:25 minutes form top to bottom, allowed us to improve riding skills and race strategies.
No trees, lots of sand and sharp rocks in a desert region, it's been a great experience to ride in sunny, warm and dry conditions in the middle of January, along with some of Canada's best DH riders.

NEW ZEALAND TEAM RED DOG RIDING XPREZO
Red Dog Racing is a New Zealand based downhill race team composed of two Pro-Elite riders Dan Sims and James Rennie. The team is backed by both National and International sponsors and without their support this venture wouldn’t have been possible, so thanks heaps!
Red Dog Racing is also the only source of Xprezo Bikes in New Zealand so if you want to get your hands on one of these beautifully made bikes email us at reddogracing@gmail.com and be sure to check out their full range by clicking on their link on the left.
The 2010 NZ national series kicked off in the South Island city of Christchurch, this was to be Red Dog Racing's debut with riders James and Dan showcasing their new bikes courtesy of Xprezo and Thor kits which were custom printed by Infamous Designs.
With the bikes arriving just before Christmas there wasn’t much time to get used to the new machines, but first impression were that the bikes have excellent geometry and should show some good speed once the team gets them dialled in. For the weight weenies out there, the bikes weight in at 39 pounds.
